[edit] Exemplary Network Setups
You find some sketches of networks showing possible basic setup data. Even if you network differs from these, you may want to have a look at the examples, if yo are in trouble.
|
The fist example shows the simplest setup possible. A computer connects to the ReelBox directly. Make shure, you are using a crossed ethernet cable in this case. |
|
The second example shows a more complex enviroment. A bridged LAN / WLAN is connected to the Internet via a router. The router is running a domain name service forwarder and a dhcp daemon. Network settings are done via dhcpc and manually partly. Internally, IP addresses are used, as there is no domain name service for the internal network. The dns forwarder is only able to resolve external qualified domain names. Nevertheless you may use names in a Windows enviroment because of the NetBIOS name service, which is also running on the ReelBox. |

The third example shows another complex enviroment. A routed LAN / WLAN is connected to the Internet via a WLAN accesspoint router combination (like most of the boxes of today). The accesspoint is running a domain name service forwarder and a dhcp daemon. |
